Aurora Trout Fishing

The Aurora Trout is the rarest and the most beautiful trout in the world and only found in a couple of lakes in Ontario. Aurora Trout were thought to be extinct until the MNR netted a couple while doing a study of fish populations (headed by Ed Snucins) in Whitepine Lake and Whirlygig Lake. These lakes are permanent fish sanctuaries.

Lake Trout Fishing

Meteor Lake is a popular Lake Trout fishing spot because there is a good forage base, which produces lots of Lake Trout of many sizes. This is a natural lake with an indigenous reproducing Lake Trout population. The average size trout is about 5 pounds, which is much bigger then most inland lakes.

Brook Trout Fishing

We have five stocked lakes with Brook Trout in the area. Brook Trout are well known for being the best tasting fish of the Trout Family as their meat is a dark red and very lean with no fishy taste.

Northern Pike Fishing

The Lodge is located on the shores of Appelo Lake, which is one of the better Northern Pike lakes in the area. Many guests have successfully fished from our dock and caught Pike. Generally, the Pike are more concentrated in the weedy bays or off rocky points where they ambush Walleyes.

Walleye Fishing

We have three area lakes, which have good Walleye fishing. These lakes are remote and can be difficult to access. As a result, they receive very little fishing pressure and are well worth the extra effort to get into.
